Maria Asensio
Department of Political Science and Public Policy
Maria Asensio is currently guest associate professor at ISCTE-IUL-University Institute of Lisbon and integrated research fellow at the Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology (CIES-IUL). She holds a degree in Sociology from the Complutense University of Madrid (1992) and a Master's degree in Social Sciences from the Center for Advanced Studies in Social Sciences (CEACS) of the Juan March Institute (1994). She also holds a PhD in Political Science and Sociology from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. She is a PhD. Member of the Juan March Institute of Studies and Research (Madrid), Member of the Spanish Network of Social Policy and of the Portuguese Political Science Association. Between 1997 and 2012 she was researcher at the National Institute of Administration (INA). She has taught at the University of Coimbra (2001-2008), at the University of Évora (2008-2011) and at the University of Lisbon (2011-2018). Research Fields
Public Administration - Public Policies - Public Health - Welfare policies. My research interest addresses two main areas of public policies. One concerns the effect of public institutions and ideas on public policy making. Another dimension looks at attitudes toward public policies, in particular how attitudes are shaped by analyzing public policies and attitudes in Southern European countries.
