Fátima Barahona da Fonseca holds a Master Degree in Modern and Contemporary History, with specialization in Cities and Heritage by the ISCTE-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (2020, overall classification 18/20). She obtained a BA degree (Licenciatura) in Modern and Contemporary History, with specialization in Heritage and Cultural Projects, from the same University in 2004, and a Specialization Diploma in Conservation and Restoration from the Institute of Arts and Crafts (IAO) of the Universidade Autonóma de Lisboa (2002).
