Professor David Silverman will present a workshop on Positioning Qualitative Data to interested Lisbon PhD students on Thursday March 26, 2020

 

Brief profile:

Prof David Silverman is an outstanding scholar specialising in qualitative research using constructionist approaches David is Professor Emeritus in the Sociology Department at Goldsmiths College and Visiting Professor in the Management Department at King's College, University of London and the Business School, University of Technology, Sydney. He has authored 15 books and 45 journal articles on qualitative research, ethnography and conversation analysis. 

 

Prof Silverman has hosted workshops on qualitative research for PhD students in Australia since 2009 as well as in Europe, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Tanzania. 

 

Lecture topics

  • The uses and limits of mixed methods
  • Applying qualitative research to social institutions

 

The workshop will consist of lectures, data sessions and one-to-one supervisions with up to 6 selected participants. If you are selected for the full workshop and would like a brief 1-1, write to him at d.silverman@gold.ac.uk between March 18-21 at the latest listing your research topic, data used and up to 3 questions [up to 150 words].

 

 

Thirty students will be selected for the full program including workshop sessions and 1-1s.
