Fall School "Untangling Climate Mobility Narratives"
21 a 23 outubro 2024

CIES-Iscte and Philipps-Universität Marburg (Germany) are pleased to announce the Fall School “Untangling Climate Mobility Narratives".

This intensive program will take place from October 21st-23rd and aims to critically examine the discourses, perceptions, and narratives surrounding climate change and human mobility in Europe. We are willing to sponsor 14 participants. The fall school is funded by the DAAD supported by the German Federal Foreign Office.

OBJECTIVE OF THE FALL SCHOOL

The Fall School will delve into how climate change and migration are discussed, perceived, and represented in various discourses, and how some of these narratives may be misleading or inaccurate. Participants will explore the impact of these narratives on policy, public opinion, and the lived experiences of migrants. Through lectures, case studies, and group discussions, students will engage with leading experts to dissect and challenge common misconceptions, while developing a more nuanced understanding of the interplay between climate change and migration.

ELIGIBILITY

This Fall School is open to students currently enrolled at the Master’s or PhD level at a Portuguese higher education institution. While students in fields such as Environmental Studies, Humanitarian Action, Migration Studies, Sociology, Geography, and Political Science, Science communication are particularly encouraged to apply, the program is also open to those from other relevant disciplines who are interested in the theme of climate change and human mobility. We encourage students who are passionate about understanding and addressing the challenges at the intersection of human mobility and climate change to apply for this unique learning opportunity.
