The "kick off meeting" of the European project "Self-determination & Inclusion by Theatre" took place on 15 and 16 February at the Iscte - Knowledge and Innovation facilities.
The project, coordinated by Iscte, through the "Centre for Disability Studies", aims to train and empower community theatre groups to include autistic people and will be tested in 3 European countries under the same pilot methodology (Portugal, Spain and Italy).

In addition to Iscte, the coordinating institution responsible for evaluating the results and impact of the project in the 3 implementing countries, the consortium also includes the participation of "Teatro da Vila" (with experience in the field of inclusive theatre), and the associations "Autism Europe", "Diversamente" - ITA, "Autismo Sevilla" - ESP and Inovar Autismo" - PT.

Coordinated by CIES researcher Luís Capucha, the SDIT project aims to transform the theatre industry over the next two years, making it more accessible, inclusive and welcoming to people with autism.
