CIES-Iscte postdoctoral researchers Inês C. Sousa and Feng Yan, from the POIESIS project (Probing the impact of integrity and integration on societal trust in science), coordinated by Professor and Researcher Marta Entradas, attended the 12th SciComPt Congress, which took place at the University of Minho, in Braga, from 8 to 10 May. The team presented two papers.

Under the title ‘The role of scientific institutions in public engagement in science: voices of institutional stakeholders’, the team presented the main results of the focus groups, which took place at Iscte in February 2024.

This presentation discussed the need to strengthen the capacity of science communication offices to establish long-term relationships between scientific institutions and society.

In the presentation ‘Science communication by scientists in Portugal’, the team discussed the perceptions of researchers working in Portuguese research institutions and universities about their role in science communication and how this can affect public opinion and trust in science.
