The Historical Dynamics and Global Integration of the World research group has a new coordination team. Maria João Vaz will continue as coordinator, and Gonçalo Gonçalves will take on the role of co-coordinator.
Gonçalo Gonçalves has a PhD in History from The Open University and is currently an Assistant Professor in the History Department at Iscte. His research focuses on the history of the police, criminal justice and state-building in Portugal between the 19th and 20th centuries. His publications include articles in the journals Análise Social, Ler História and, most recently, the book Fardados de Azul. Police and Police Culture in Portugal, 1860-1939. He has also collaborated on various national and international projects.
This group is dedicated to the study of historical themes from the early modern period to the modern and contemporary periods, with a perspective that favours global integration over nationalist approaches.
