OPAC Promotes Training on Cultural Statistics for Public Institutions from the PALOP and Timor-Leste

The Portuguese Observatory on Cultural Activities (OPAC) organized, between 6 and 17 October, at Iscte – Knowledge and Innovation, the training programme “Cultural Statistics for Public Institutions Responsible for the Cultural Sector”, within the framework of the PROCULTURA PALOP–TL programme.

This initiative, funded by the European Union and managed and co-financed by Camões – Institute for Cooperation and Language, I.P., brought together 13 representatives from governmental bodies overseeing culture in Angola, Mozambique, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Timor-Leste.

Over the two-week period, participants enhanced their understanding of the production, analysis, and use of cultural statistics, supported by a team of professors and researchers from CIES–Iscte. The programme also included technical visits to several cultural institutions, providing practical insights into the organization of cultural policies and information systems in Portugal.

This capacity-building activity contributed to strengthening the technical expertise of public institutions from the participating countries and to fostering international cooperation in the field of cultural policy and statistical development.
