Education and Science

I'm an Assistant Professor at ISCTE-IUL (Portugal) and Visiting Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) (UK) since 2014. My research focuses on dynamics of university communication with society, public understanding and trust in science, and scientists’ engagement with society, with a focus on international comparisons.I'm Principal Investigator (PI) of numerous funded projects, and coordinator of international teams, including the MORE-PE project (2016-2020), the OPEN project (2019-2023), and the PuReSC project (2026-2029). I received my PhD in Science and Technology Studies (STS) from University College London (UCL) (2011), and I was a postdoctoral researcher at LSE and at Cornel University (NY). I was Teaching Assistant (TA) at UCL (University College London) for courses in Science Communication and Science Policy at UCL (2008-2013) and a trainer for Esconet (European Network for Science Communication, EU funded project), training scientists how to communicate with publics (2009-12).
