Teresa Patrício took on the position of director of CIES-Iscte in the Sala de Atos of Iscte - University Institute of Lisbon.

Teresa Patrício took office on July 15, as director of the Center for Research and Studies in Sociology (CIES-Iscte).

With an audience composed by professors and researchers, the Rector of Iscte inaugurated the new director of CIES, Teresa Patrício, listing as main challenges the implementation of multidisciplinary approaches - considering that "it is through collaborative work that we give answers to global problems" - and the continuous affirmation of the Social and Human Sciences as an area of knowledge essential to the development of society. Recalling the last years of CIES activity, Maria de Lurdes Rodrigues, thanked all the commitment and dedication of the outgoing director, João Sebastião, giving the example of his work in the evaluations made to the research unit and the remarkable results of growth and scientific production of the centre.

Associate professor at Iscte in the areas of Sociology and Public Policies and integrated researcher at CIES-Iscte, Teresa Patrício assumed the scientific collaboration as an indispensable criterion for the accomplishment of the tasks and challenges to come, thus giving the motto for the next three years of mandate that she now begins.
