Celebrating 50 years of 25th April
On April 25, 1974, a group of young captains carried out a coup d'état that, in less than 24 hours, overthrew the long dictatorship that had ruled Portugal for more than four decades. This event marked a significant historical change, beginning a process that would culminate in the establishment of a democratic regime.
CIES-Iscte is commemorating the 50th anniversary of April 25 with a series of initiatives whose main objective is to enable a transversal dialog in the social sciences about the achievements of April, as well as to share experiences and testimonies.
