The Gender, Life Course and Health Research Group plays a crucial role in understanding the complex interaction between gender, the various stages of life, and health. As a result, it contributes to the development of more effective, fair, and well-being-focused health policies and practices for the entire population.

The primary research themes within this group can be categorized into three areas:

  • Family, parenthood, and gender issues and identities;
  • Different life contexts, from childhood to youth, including transitions and interactions between generations.
  • Health, health professionals, and patients; Ethics, risks, and medicine use, including substance abuse.

These research topics cover a wide range of project profiles, including national and international competitive bids, individual grants, and public procurement processes. The goal is to expand the knowledge base in these areas and provide valuable insights for assessing and formulating public policies.

The research group collaborates with other key structures where numerous integrated researchers participate, such as nascer.pt - Laboratory for Social Studies on Birth, the LIM - Laboratory for Methodological Innovation located in CIES, and the thematic line of "Societal Health" of the SocioDigital Lab for Public Policy.
