Gender, Life Course and Health

ABOUT THE GROUP

The Research Group on Gender, Life Course and Health is engaged in the understanding of the lives of the individuals as inter-personal processes. We are interested in the way how these lives, since birth to old age, unravel not only in relation to others, but also regarding gender and situations and experiences of health and illness. More specifically, the projects and activities of this Research Group focus and cross:
  • Gender Equality, Identities and Diversity.
  • Family diversity and dynamics and interpersonal relations, both within and between generations.
  • Biographies, life transitions and trajectories, methodological and theoretical debates on agency and structure.
  • Health and illness, sexual and reproductive health, health professions and organizations, therapeutical trajectories and medicine consumption.

We are also dedicated to the ethical-methodological challenges implicated in the research of these topics.

  • The development of a Fundamental Social Science, capable of contributing to global and wide theoretical debates, as well as to theoretical and conceptually position itself in the projects that are designed and the results that are discussed.
  • And the valorisation of an Applied Social Science that, working with and for the populations and individuals that are studied, imagines, develops and mobilizes plural research designs and methods.
