Those who choose the ethnographic approach embark on the challenging path of producing their own primary data, such as field notes, photographs, and video recordings. However, managing this body of work requires methodological reflection that begins long before heading into the field, accompanies the entire fieldwork process, and extends beyond the publication of the results, influencing the decision of whether or not to preserve these materials.
This meeting is designed precisely to discuss these dynamics, beginning with a workshop focused on how to initiate research in light of current codes of ethics and new guidelines for the collection and sharing of scientific data. In a second phase, the discussion will focus on projects that reuse materials collected in the past, addressing revisitation as one of the most fruitful ways to demonstrate the utility and value of safeguarding ethnographic data.
