Message from the Coordinator

With an experienced faculty and a curriculum that addresses both the foundational and contemporary issues in the field, the program prepares doctoral students to actively contribute to the advancement of Public Administration, nationally and internationally, through applied research and innovative solutions aligned with the demands of the public sector in the 21st century.

The integration of doctoral students into the CIES research center and the interaction with the Institute for Public and Social Policies (IPPS-Iscte) provide an ecosystem with advanced resources, academic networks (both national and international), and opportunities for the development of research projects. The course fosters a conducive environment for scientific production, participation in research groups, article publication, and integration into global initiatives and forums.

 


OBJECTIVES

 

  1. Deepen knowledge in the specific areas of Public Administration and Public Policies; 
  2. Develop analytical skills and critical thinking in the area of Administration Science; 
  3. Frame and understand the evolution of the State and Public Policies and Administration, within the framework of the most relevant theories and models for the area;
  4. Promote the capacity for independent study and investigation of the contexts, specificities and phenomena that occur in the public sector;
  5. Analyse and evaluate the best research methodologies, methods and techniques relevant to their objects of study.
