Onde Habita a Democracia?
Seminar Celebrates 50 Years of Democracy and 10 Years of Reflections on Social Movements
The Monthly Seminar on Social Movements and Political Action will celebrate its 10th anniversary on October 15, 2024, with a special event focusing on the theme "Onde Habita a Democracia?".
This event coincides with the 50th anniversary of democracy in Portugal. The seminar will pay tribute to Britta Baumgarten (1975-2018), a co-founder whose work has left a significant legacy for critical reflection on democracy and participation.
The seminar, organized collectively by the participants, will feature debates exploring the relationship between democracy and housing, examining the impact of different forms of exclusion and participation on politics and urban life over the past five decades.
The Seminar on Social Movements and Political Action has held more than 100 sessions since October 2014.
